How To Maintain Vinyl Flooring?

Vinyl is one of the most durable and high performing flooring materials, and does not require extensive maintenance. But if you want to increase its lifespan, there are some daily care considerations that you might have to make. The foremost thing that you need to do is sweep the vinyl floor every day using a dust mop or soft broom for preventing build up of grits that might cause abrasions on the surface. Make sure that food or liquid spills are wiped up immediately and not left to become hard or sticky residue.

As time progresses, your vinyl flooring will inevitably collect stubborn dust and dirt. In order to remove them, first you must sweep or vacuum the entire floor. Once that has been done, you will have to mop the surface using warm water and sponge mop. If there are any stubborn stains, add a small quantity of white vinegar into the water and then wipe those stains using a little bit of pressure. Cover only a small portion at one time so that the dirt does not spread around and actually gets cleaned. For an intense wash, you may use a commercial floor cleaner. But make sure that you read the instructions given on the product carefully before applying it.

Vinyl floors having urethane finish may lose lustre with time. In that case, you will need a high grade acrylic emulsion polish for applying on the flooring. But do not ever use one-step polishers or mechanical buffing equipment if you wish to keep scratches or marks at bay.

Prevention is generally far more simple than maintenance with vinyl flooring, and therefore care should be taken to ensure that heavy or sharp objects are never dragged across the surface. For instance, do not try to pull or push a stove, heavy table or refrigerator across your vinyl surface. Instead, use two or more people for lifting the objects in a secured manner and then shift them to the desired place. You can also hire a dolly having soft tyres if you need to move items through a long way. By chance the vinyl floor suffers from any damage due to some mishap, make sure you contact a reputed company dealing with vinyl repairs in Perth immediately.

By following a few simple tips and precautions, you can be sure that your vinyl flooring will last for a long period of time.
